Watch Dogs Legion is now playable at 60 frames-per-second on PlayStation 5, as Ubisoft’s promised performance update has rolled out on next-gen consoles. You will sacrifice the release’s gorgeous raytracing effects if you select it, but obviously gain silky-smooth performance. It’s a trade-off, as always, and you can toggle between modes to see which you prefer.
In other unrelated news, the undead are coming to London in a new co-operative mode named Watch Dogs Legion of the Dead. Presumably this is the surprise in the game’s recent roadmap, and is currently being tested on PC ahead of a release on consoles. “Watch Dogs Legion of the Dead delivers a roguelite experience where players will have to ‘Survive-as-Anyone’ against the looming threat of the undead,” reads an IGN video blurb.
It continues: “In solo or up to four friends in co-op, players will need to strategise on how to reach the extraction point for each run and gather as many supplies as possible along the way. Players can use abilities such as the Bee Swarm to decimate enemies, the AR Cloak to escape threats, and a Combat Spider-Bot equipped with a turret for protection.”

Downloading the update now. Hopefully I'll stay interested enough into the story to actually finish it this time lol. I need to get through it to transfer the game to my external hard drive and clear precious SSD space for other PS5 games haha.
Oh damn I just seen that you have to sacrifice ray tracing if you want to play the game in 60fps. One of the few things I liked about the game was the ray tracing so that's a bummer...
‘Bout time. On it as soon as I am done with Marvel’s Avengers.
Too little too late for me this update as I’ve already finished it awhile ago but great for those who are yet to play it.
Are we ever going to see games on PS5 and Series X running at 60fps with ray-tracing enabled? Or are we going to have to wait for a PS6 for that to happen?
Cool, you can now get bored at 60fps!
Is this always going to be the trade off . Loose the raytracing for 60 frames ? Didn't miles morales have an option that gave you both but just no 4k resolution? I'm just curious because I could have sworn the selling point for these new consoles was so we didn't have to sacrifice as much . I hope it's just becuase these are still technically launch games . It's going to be alot harder to upsell people in a couple of years on a pro version of the ps5 when the general naritive around the ps5 now is how hard it is to get .
@MaccaMUFC still makes me lol that people want 120fps in 4K, but we can’t even do 4K 60fps with Ray Tracing.
I still desire just 4K 60fps with RT as a bonus 👍🏻
@MaccaMUFC ps5pro for those features 🙈
@Otherbarry Spider-Man Remastered and Miles Morales got a 60fps with Ray-Tracing a while after launch.
It does sacrifice the resolution (from 2160p to 1440p), and some visual effects (quality of shadows and reflections) and the density of NPCs in the streets are reduced significantly.
I'm playing Miles Morales right now, and I prefer the quality mode with all visual effects and 30fps.
Weird, maybe because I got used to the 30fps with this game, but the 60fps feels... not ok. Like if everything is sliding, almost like a soap opera effect within a game. I don't get this feeling when I play Demon's Souls at 60fps, so I'm not sure it's just me...
Zombies in Watch Dogs?! What the heck took them so long!!
I actually thought the ray tracing looked like absolute ****, so I'm happy to hear about 60fps instead of that.
@MaccaMUFC miles morales 🤷🏽♂️
So &Zombies is the new &Knuckles, right? This game felt like it leaned too much into zombie-like atmospheres for a game about hackers for its own good already, I guess it makes sense, but it kind of breaks the whole point of the franchise.
And, I guess rogue-lite is the new battle royale, too?
@MaccaMUFC Miles and Spidey Remastered
@Olmaz that soap opera effect your speaking about could actually be a setting on your TV. I know what your talking about and I can't stand that . I don't mind the the drop in resolution so much I ended up playing the game with the 60 frames and raytracing and my lord was it pretty . That being said if your use to the 30 no reason to switch it . But honestly check your TV every TV calles it something different but it's usely called realism mode or some kind of motion mode. It's the first thing I turn off when ever i get a new TV. I honestly have no idea why stors always display ***** with that setting its just looks so unnatural
Going to save my next replay until after I get my PS5. It will be here before the end of next month
@Otherbarry you are completely right there. Motion Plus mode it is called in Samsung TVs for example... its that strange image sliding.
I hate losing the Ray Tracing to fps. We buy expensive machines that can't handle the games...sometimes I feel this way!
I prefer when a dev tells me the way it's intended to be played and have no other options
@sawaoyamanaka @Jacko11 Wow 2 games! Even those are still making sacrifices by reducing resolution and certain visual effects like shadows and reflections. I’d still take them over 30fps but I’m hoping to see games built only for PS5 and Series X to be running at 60fps with ray-tracing with the only sacrifice being down to 1440p, I’d be happy with that. I have no interest in 120fps, it seems excessive as 60fps is enough for a game to run smooth.
@MaccaMUFC so you would take sacrifices and we gave you games that gave you sacrifices with ray-tracing. Dmc5 does so as well, your idiocy knows no bounds apparently. Considering what you need to get ray-tracing at 1080p in 60fps on pc. You should be lucky the ps5 and Xbox series x can do this.
@Otherbarry I know what you're saying but I can assure you, my TV's settings are not the culprit here. Without the fact I've spent countless hours setting up the tv (and f**k these motion extrapolation settings!), I can confirm that this weird slippery feeling is not present in other 60fps 3rd-person games (Demon's Souls, AC Valhalla, Immortals FR come to mind).
I've had this feeling (even if a bit less prominent) when playing the Remastered Uncharted Trilogy on PS4. I'm sure if I forced myself, I could grow accustomed to it, but sith Spider-Man, 30fps feels perfectly right.
I'm sick of the sight of Zombies now at this point so this doesn't do anything for me at all.
@MaccaMUFC “Are we ever going to see games on PS5 and Series X running at 60fps with ray-tracing enabled?”
Me: “Miles and Spidey Remastered”
You basically: ‘No **** YoU, wOw 2 gAmEs?!’
Make your mind up pal
'And the undead are coming to London' London is full of them already(I know because I live in London) Just got the PS5 disc version today so COOL Still got to play Crash Bandicoot 4 first and then might play this.
@Jacko11
AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution is on the way and will the answer to have Ray Tracing at 60FPS without major graphical compromise.
Hopefully we'll start seeing it used towards the end of the year and should get widely adopted unlike DLSS, since it's open source and will work on PS5 and Series X/S.
@Olmaz man thats so werid. I remember the first time I had that feeling your describing. It was the reboot of tomb raider I played on the pc it was super jarring it was the first time I had a 3rd person game play at 60 frames . I thought there was something wrong with my video card. Mind you at the time I wasn't aware of how frame rate could affect how games looked and played .
Glad they went thru with this! Looking forward to playing after all DLC is out.
@MaccaMUFC Its possible at 1440p
